That's completely intentional, and we think it's one of the most important things about us.
Fifty Years of Learning What Actually Works
Between our team, we have over 50 years of combined experience in the hair and beauty industry. What it really means is this: we've seen a lot of products come and go. We've watched brands ride a trend and disappear. We've seen customers spend good money on things that didn't do what they promised. And we've also discovered, over and over again, the products that genuinely work, the ones that earn a permanent spot on the shelf because they perform, time and time again.
Icon Haircare & Beauty was built on that experience. On the idea that the people selling you haircare and beauty products should be the people who know them best, have used them, recommended them, and stood behind them.
Our Curation Process
Every brand in our range has been through a process that starts with one simple question: would we genuinely recommend this to someone we care about?
From there, we look at a few things that matter a lot to us:
Performance
Does it actually do what it says? We don't carry products that rely on clever marketing to do the heavy lifting.
Quality of formulation
We look at ingredients, not just labels. Clean-ish isn't good enough; we want to understand what's in the bottle and why.
Sustainability
Not every brand gets this perfectly right, and we're realistic about that. But we actively seek out brands making genuine effort: cleaner ingredients, more responsible practices, better packaging. It matters.
Longevity
We prefer brands that have earned their reputation over time, and new brands that have earned our trust through results.
Brands like Ashley & Co, Angel en Provence, De Lorenzo, Paul Mitchell, and Lust Haircare have been in our world for years.
What Doesn't Make the Cut
Plenty of brands don't make it into our range, and we think that's okay. A high-profile name doesn't automatically mean a high-quality product. A beautiful Instagram presence doesn't tell us how a formula performs on real hair in real conditions. We pass on brands that prioritise the trend over the substance, and we pass on products we wouldn't feel confident standing behind in a conversation with a customer.
It's us being honest. And it means that when something is in our range, it's there for a reason.
We're Always Looking
Our curation process is ongoing. We're always on the hunt for the next great find. New brands, emerging ingredients, products that are doing something genuinely interesting. If we discover something worth getting excited about, you'll hear about it.
